Useful information

• Root Canal Treatment
The nerve has been removed and this involves deep drilling, you should expect some discomfort which maydevelop when you bite together this is because bruising can occur underneath or above the tooth and as withbruising in other parts of the body, should resolve over the next two weeks.

• Extractions
Your tooth has been removed and you will have a wound. Wait 24 hours before you start to rinse with saltwater. DO NOT SMOKE during this time. Bruising sometimes develops depending how difficult the extractionwas. There will be some discomfort but if this becomes unbearable please contact your dentist.

• Wisdom teeth extractions
The rules for extractions apply, you will probably benefit from applying ice packs to your face, never applyice directly - always wrap in a tea towel first. The pain may get worse before it gets better – This is due toinflammation developing.

• Fillings
Deeply filled teeth might be tender as well as hot and cold sensitive for anything up to a few weeks. This isnormal and will gradually fade.
